Sauce Magazine

The condiment wall that made reviewers go feral.

Food Feature · St. Louis · By By Byron Kerman · Sauce Magazine

A positively gluttonous array of around 50 mustards, 12 ketchups, 20 barbecue sauces and 100 hot sauces.

Sauce Magazine sent Byron Kerman to investigate why customers at Home Depot Sunset Hills, Brentwood, and South County kept doing a double-take at our cart. The answer, it turned out, was the condiment table.

At the time of the article, Kerman reported that Jason kept an enormous condiment wall — his breakdown described 50 mustards, 12 ketchups, 20 barbecue sauces, and 100 hot sauces, plus horseradishes, wasabi, and mayo variations, spanning carts at Home Depot Sunset Hills, Brentwood, and South County.

The article highlights exotic options like Silver Spring Peppadew Mustard, Blair's Wasabi Green Tea Hot Sauce, Melinda's Habanero Ketchup, Marie Sharp's Grapefruit Pulp Habanero Hot Sauce, and a honey-based barbecue sauce from a St. Charles farmer. Jason told Kerman that the collection grew organically — customers kept recommending sauces, he kept buying them, and the wall kept expanding.

The article also mentioned Jason's side life as a hot air balloon racer and noted a sign at each stand: "Prices double for Chicago Cubs fans." Some things never change.
